What are they?
Porcelain veneers are a great way of covering any imperfections you may have and helping you achieve your new year, new smile Burnham. They are essentially false nails for your teeth, as they are simply attached to the front, and you’re good to go. Your veneers will be custom-made just for you so that they complement your face shape and mouth size.
How does it all work?
Initial consultation
You will probably want to know what our process is when it comes to providing porcelain veneers, and what happens once you have your new year, new smile Burnham. To start off, we will have a consultation appointment with you. This is what will really start your veneer journey and give you a clear view of what’s to come. We will give you all of the information about the process, as well as answering any questions you may have. After this, we will examine your teeth and take scans to get a clear picture of your mouth, and you can tell us which imperfections you would like to cover. The number of veneers that you choose to have is completely up to you, from a single tooth to a full set.
Attaching your veneers
Once we’ve had the consultation, the scans taken will be used to create your veneers, which can take a few weeks. We can provide you with temporary veneers during this time, which is helpful as it means you can point out anything you want to change in time for your permanent veneers.
When it comes to attaching your permanent veneers, you can rest assured knowing that our dentists are highly trained in this process and will take great care of you throughout. We can usually attach your veneers in one treatment, depending on how many you are having and any adjustments that need to be made. To begin, we will usually need to sand away a tiny layer of enamel from the front of your teeth to make way for the veneers. After this, we will use a dental adhesive to attach the veneers to the front of your teeth, and harden it with a strong beam of light to help them bond quicker. We can also make any slight adjustments during this appointment if needed. Once this is all done, you will be ready to leave our practice and go and enjoy your new year, new smile Burnham.
Once you have your veneers
Maintaining your veneers is extremely easy, and one of the main reasons why this is such a popular treatment among our patients. There are no special cleaning techniques or tools, so all you need to do is make sure you regularly brush and floss your teeth, like anyone else would. There are no restrictions with the food you can eat as your veneers can withstand the usual forces of chewing, and porcelain has stain-resistant properties which also helps prolong the life of your veneers. With good oral hygiene, your veneers can last for a whole 10 years or more, which is another reason why it makes us so happy to provide them to our patients.
