Have you been putting off straightening your smile because you do not want to wear metal brackets and wires? We understand that regular braces can seem intimidating. Your time and comfort are valuable, so we strive to provide you with the most convenient and advanced teeth straightening options available.
At The Dental Surgery Burnham, we believe that you should still have a confident smile even during your teeth straightening treatment. For this reason, we offer Invisalign, an innovative treatment that helps you straighten your teeth discreetly.
How does Invisalign work?
Unlike metal braces that rely on bars and brackets to straighten your smile, Invisalign uses a series of customised, plastic, transparent aligners to gently and gradually move your teeth to their ideal positions.
Invisalign aligners are individually created using 3D printing technology, to fit snugly over your teeth. There are no wires, elastics or brackets. A collection of different sets or trays are created, and are applied in sequence during the course of the treatment.
At regular intervals (usually every 7-10 days), aligners are exchanged for new ones designed to promote the overall movement and realignment plan initially designed by your dentist. Each new set of aligners will put a little more pressure on the teeth to gently and gradually move them into their correct position.
How to know if you are a good candidate for Invisalign
In general, many people have the option of using Invisalign in order to straighten their teeth. Chances are that if you can have regular braces, then you can also have Invisalign. However, our dentists will have to examine your teeth thoroughly and determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. Invisalign can treat many dental problems including moderately crooked teeth and bite problems, but is not the best option when it comes to severely crooked teeth. In this case, your dentist may recommend regular braces to start with before moving to Invisalign.
Straighten your teeth in six months in Burnham
The length of treatment with Invisalign depends on the severity of your case and can only be determined by your dentist; however, you can have straighter teeth with Invisalign in six months or thereabouts.
