It’s easy to keep putting off some jobs, especially if they are going to go on for a while and perhaps be a bit of an inconvenience. It can be hard to hold the vision of how great it will be when you are living in the results of your hard work rather than still going through it.
That’s why many people who would like to have straighter teeth never actually get around to doing anything about it. Fortunately, if you have a mild to moderate alignment issue, it won’t take long to sort it out and doing so won’t be that much hassle either, when you choose to get your teeth straightened with us at The Dental Surgery Burnham.
In Burnham, we are an accredited provider of Invisalign, an innovative way of straightening your teeth that gets rid of all the embarrassment and nearly all the hassle associated with traditional bracket and wire braces.
Indeed, there are no brackets and wires with Invisalign, just smooth transparent plastic that won’t rub against the inside of your cheeks.
How Invisalign works
Traditional braces have one device that is cemented onto the teeth and tightened periodically by adjusting a wire through brackets.
Invisalign uses aligners that look like super-thin mouth guards. You get a series of them, and wear each one for 7-10 days.
Swapping each aligner for the next in the series is what creates the sustained pressure on the teeth. The pressure itself is created by a carefully placed bumps and ridges inside the aligners. These press on the teeth in exactly the right direction to move them to where they need to be.
After the treatment is over, you will need to wear a retainer to keep the teeth in their correct positions, while the newly formed bone around them hardens.
The big pluses
People love Invisalign because the aligners are so thin and transparent that, once they are in place, they are very hard to see. Most people won’t even notice them. Also, they are removable, which means that eating and cleaning your teeth are as easy as always.
