Dr. Nishma Somaia

Dr. Nishma Somaia qualified with Honours from the University of Manchester Turner Dental School in 1997, having already gained an honours degree in Immunology and Oncology from the same university in 1994.
Having initially worked in General dental practice for 3 years, her interest in Oral surgery led to her pursuing a hospital based career. Her special interest in Oral surgery was developed undertaking several Oral and Maxillofacial surgery hospital posts, including a post as a Senior dentist in Oral surgery and tutor to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne, Australia.
She became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Of Edinburgh in 2002, having gained her MFDS, and is now a member of the British association of Oral surgeons.
She has also attained an Masters degree in Implant dentistry from the University of Warwick, having passed with Merit. Her Master's degree research has led to Nishma lecturing nationally and internationally on the subject of her research.
She recently also gained her fellowship qualifications in Oral Surgery and Oral medicine at the Royal College of Surgeon of Ireland.
She currently works as a Speciality doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at The Royal Free NHS Foundation trust, and is a Clinical supervisor in Oral surgery and Implantology for the Implant training institute on Harley street and GIFT (General Implantology – Forum and Training) as well as a clinical teacher on Warwick and BPP University's postgraduate programmes in Implantology and Oral surgery.
She practices Oral Surgery and Implantology in General and Private practice the rest of the week.
She is an examiner for the MJDF examination at the Royal college of Surgeons of England and a reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
She is also actively involved in a dental charity called 'Smile star', which involves her travelling abroad on a yearly basis to less developed countries to provide dental pain relief to patients without access to dentists or doctors.Back to Meet The Dentists
