Straighter teeth in six months

Six Month Smiles is a thoroughly modern system of cosmetic braces, designed to correct aesthetic issues with your front teeth in a fraction of the time of standard orthodontic treatment.

six-month-smilesDentists and orthodontists agree that in many cases braces remain the most reliable and predictable way to straighten teeth, giving your orthodontist maximum control over each tooth’s movement. However, at The Dental Surgery in Burnham, we appreciate that traditional metal braces do not always sit well with the pace of modern adult lifestyles.

Six Month Smiles take the principles of traditional braces and modify them for the 21st Century, using new discreet materials and improved techniques to deliver subtle orthodontic treatment in an average of just six months.

These braces comprise tooth-coloured nickel titanium wires and ceramic brackets, so they blend in well with your teeth and are not glaringly obvious the way that metal braces can be. Six Month Smiles work so quickly because they focus only on the front six to eight teeth – those that are on display when you smile. Because they also use milder forces than traditional braces, many patients also report that Six Month Smiles treatment is a lot more comfortable.

Six Month Smiles are not designed to fix major orthodontic problems. If you are interested in this treatment, your first step should be to book a free consultation with one of our certified practitioners here at our Burnham practice.

If your cases is suitable for treatment with Six Month Smiles, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to the laboratory for your braces to be made. When they are ready you will be called back to the practice and your braces will be bonded to your teeth. You will need to visit us every four to five weeks so we can check your progress and make any necessary adjustments.

At the end of treatment a bonded retainer will be fitted to the back of your teeth (so it is out of sight) to stop them moving back to their old position. You may want to complete your smile makeover with a course of teeth whitening treatment, before showing off your dazzling new smile.
